I know your book will be GREAT!
A book I am reading right now a friend gave me to read because
part of the book had to do with the kids growing up in Phoenix
and you can tell when people write about places they are not familiar with and if you are from their it puts you the reader off a bit.

Do what you are doing.
Write about what you know.
Write about whats banging around in your brain.

I got my money$ put aside for your book...
Reserve me a copy.

The Phenomenon of the Novel Soundtrack

Today Nanowrimo founder Chris Baty wrote the following in his Breaking News blog: "I forget every year how I pretty much spend my entire November listening to a short playlist over and over and over, and how intensely those five or six songs become part of the writing process. Thank you, musicians of the world, for making such beautiful soundtracks for us all to novel by."

Amazingly enough, I had probably 50 songs on a playlist of my own plus 4 mix CDs donated by Miss Holley King and spent abou… Continue

A Man Punched His Sister at a Kentucky Bowling Alley Last Night

So yesterday I wrote that blog about the backlash I've received from a few Kentucky residents who issued their complaints of being stereotyped in my half-written and poorly organized excuse for a novel that is full of plot holes and shit that doesn't make sense yet. Mind you, I made up these characters, gave them things to say to each other and gave them a home in a place called Booger Hollow, Kentucky that does not actually exist. People seem to be offended by the shit they assume I made up (no… Continue

Buckshot George Stands Accused of Being a Stereo Typist

It was brought to my attention by a few people who call the fine state of Kentucky their home that I am stereotyping them in Turtle Soup Day. I would like to bring to your attention that hillbillies who don't like being stereotyped is also a stereotype. I prefer the word "archetype" anyway. Obviously, I have to start with an archetype (an evangelist, a bass fisherman, the old man who flirts with the young girls at the general store, whatever) and try to add character quirks that make them less "… Continue

Bass Fishermen Divided Over Buckshot George’s Fictional Fishing Scandal

So last night I inadvertently created the Hottest Topic of November 20th on the message board of www.bassresource.com.

Here is the the unedited version of the controversial post:

Excerpt from Turtle Soup Day by Buckshot George, Part II

In the beginning of summer, the Johnson County Porn War came to Booger Hollow, Kentucky just about the time turtle hunting season opened. Booger Hollow was the home of the Hollis family. In the summer of 1965, childhood sweethearts Wayne & Dixie Hollis exchanged their wedding vows at the altar of the Booger Hollow Baptist church. Their first born was Cherry Lynn, who… Continue
