I am WhiskeyChick, AKA Shauna, the founder and managing editor of several music sites including DHCountryMusic, DrunkenHillbilly, Country Music News Blog, Country Music On Tour, and Rock Concerts Now. My passion is sharing new music with the world and expanding awareness of rising musicians.

I also run a web marketing firm, am a mother, and cook like a kitchen NINJA, and the creator of this community site, so feel free to ask me questions, send me your suggestions and maybe just say hi!

My name is not really Buckshot George but I was born with a very boring name that reminds me of Latter Day Saints so I had to change it. Not legally, mind you. I do not believe in God, I am lazy and I prefer charcoal grilling over gas grilling. My only regrets in life are that I do not go fishing enough and I am not very good at fist fighting. If I could change anything about myself, I would eliminate my need to earn a living and I would not be addicted to cigarettes. My favorite rock n roll band has been The New York Dolls since I first read about them in a 1977 edition of Encyclopedia of Rock Music in the late 1980s. Ironically, I am the only member of The Earps that does not like butt rock and I am the one who looks the most like a butt rocker. I do not like cults and cultish religions, including 12-step programs like AA and so on. I have become a bicycling advocate afters years of dropping ridiculous money into motor vehicles. I presently have no interest in purchasing an automobile. (I like Raleigh bicycles and Pyramid brand thorn-resistant tubes.) I also advocate National Novel Writing Month, Script Frenzy and the Arizona Department of Game and Fish. The only human behaviors that piss me off are corruption, lying, selfishness and lack of respect. I believe that human happiness will ultimately be achieved through the study of philosophy, not through religion, money or materialism.

Howdy Folks-
Buckwheat Slim here. Also known as Slim White from Slim White and The Averys. We are a five piece honky-tonk band here in Columbus, OH. We have been together since last fall and have just started gigging recently, after working up a couple of solid sets of classic Bakersfield type songs, mostly covers with a few originals coming along. Some of the artists we cover are Hank Williams, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Webb Pierce, Ray Price, The Carter Family, Robbie Fulks, George Jones, Gram Parsons, and that type of stuff. Columbus, if you're not familiar with it, has a terrific roots and Americana music scene. There are a lot of talented musicians around here who are dedicated to carrying on the best traditions of American folk and country music. A lot of bands have fine fiddle and Dobro players, not to mention great guitar pickers, but as far as I know, The Averys are the only act around here who seem to be doing a Bakersfield type of sound, with the pedal steel, the clean, bright Telecaster and small drumkit, and tight two-part vocal harmonies. Check out our My Space page- link to it from my DH profile- and let me know what you think. If there are any other Columbus-based classic country players on this site, give me a shout.

Also check out Outlaw Deluxe, from Columbus. I have been the drummer in this classic Outlaw cover band for the past three years, although I have recently decided to retire from drums and have handed over the job to my buddy Brady, who is the drummer in The Averys. Outlaw Deluxe is a hard-jamming band with a killer wall of guitar sound and a great rocking live show. They can be found through the Averys My Space page.

Well, that is what I am about. Good to have a site like this to find other fans of classic country music. Keep on honky tonkin', drinkin' and cheatin'!
